HeliCoil Locking Insert has a high reusable factor permitting frequent removal and reassembly of bolt without appreciable loss of torque. It has positive self-locking torque, complying with MIL-I-8846 & MIL-N-25027. It eliminates the usage of lock wiring, lock nuts, lock washers, chemical compounds, plastic pellets/ patches and other locking mechanisms. The HeliCoil Locking Inserts are subjected to extensive tests in tension, torque, shear, vibration and fatigue, conducted by the American & European companies. HeliCoil standard range is available in Stainless Steel AISI-304/ DTD 734, metric series ranges from M1 .6, M2 to M56 & in unified series from UNC / UNF 1-64 to 1-1/4 inch. HeliCoil Inserts are available as free running and thread locking or screw locking inserts as a standard product in both metric and inch series.
HeliCoil is also available in strip feed or reel mounted form, HeliCoil in strip feed form are best sited for significantly reducing the installation time using power tool for installation of inserts.

In the free state HeliCoil Inserts are greater in diameter than the tapped hole into which they are installed. In the assembly operation the torque applied to the HeliCoil tang reduces the diameter of the leading coil and permits it to enter the tapped thread. When the torque or rotation is stopped, the HeliCoil coils expand with a spring-like action anchoring the HeliCoil insert permanently in place against the tapped hole. No staking, locking, swaging, keying, nor interference fit is required to retain HeliCoil Inserts, thereby eliminating stress concentration in the parent material. The HeliCoil Insert automatically adjusts itself, radially and axially, to any expansion or contraction of the parent material.
