| As part of its strategic partnership with Motorola SPS, the ASE Group acquired Motorola Korea, Ltd., on July 3, 1999. This hand over symbolizes the birth of ASE Korea, Inc. as an independent and integrated service provider. Founded in March 1967 as the first overseas manufacturing site for Motorola, ASE Korea has 32 years of experience in the semiconductor assembly and testing fields. \r\n\r\nFrom 1994 to 1997, a new state-of-the-art facility was being built in Paju where the new focus was on the development of high-value engineering and highly integrated and streamlined automation.
