After the emergence of GPS PDAs in 2004, the market for PND (Portable Navigation Device) has continued to grow from strength to strength. According to the Institute for Information Industry’s Market Intelligence Center, 2007 global PND shipments will reach 2.6 million units in 2007. 2.3 million of these will be Pure PNDs, far outstripping GPS PDA’s 2.89 million units and firmly establishing Pure PND's status in the mainstream market.
